Do you want to lose 10, 30, 50 or more pounds? Have you recently reached your weight loss goal but want to maintain it? Are you willing to dedicate yourself to a healthy lifestyle? Then this blog is for you!

I have lost 118 pounds and have maintained the weight loss for two years. One of the things I have learned during the weight loss process is that it is much easier to reach and maintain your goal weight if you surround yourself with like-minded individuals to support you in the process (whether they be in person or online).

I also have learned that learning as much as possible about healthy living gives you the knowledge and expertise needed to lose weight the “right” way. So this blog includes regular posts, a book list, website list, TV list, video list and book and website of the month. In addition, there is a recipe of the month and product review section. Visitors to Weight Loss Aficionado can just enjoy the site for informational purposes or can comment on posts, ask questions, share resources, their triumphs and pitfalls during the weight loss process.

What Clothing Should I Purchase While Losing Weight?

If you plan to lose less than 30 pounds it’s best to wait until you have lost all your weight to purchase new clothes. There’s no sense in buying a new wardrobe midway  just to buy a nother new wardrobe a month or two later!

But, if you are planning to lose a large amount of weight and are on a budget you can’t wait until you lose all your weight to buy new clothes. The clothing will be falling off your back, literally!  If you are losing a large amount of weight I suggest you buy the following basics every 30 pounds you lose:  a black or navy blazer, black or navy dress pants, black leggings, black or navy skirt, a pair of fitted jeans. These basics should work well with the clothes you already have.

Fortunately, you can often get away with oversized shirts. Pull over shirts, sweaters and button down shirts can be worn oversized over a pair of fitted leggings. Button down shirts can also be tied in the front when wearing a skirt or dress pants or tucked in to look more fitted.

When buying leggings and jeans make sure they are snug so that as you lose weight they will fit properly for a longer period of time.  Also, once you feel your leggings or jeans are getting loose try washing them in hot water. It will usually cause them to shrink a little.

A belt can be added to many styles of dresses to add a more slimming look to them. Just add a fitted blazer or cardigan over the top and you won’t notice the dress is a little big! I also suggest buying a few wrap dresses because you can easily adjust them while losing weight. Lastly, suits can be adjusted by the tailor for a fraction of the cost of buying all new suits. Once you reach your goal weight go clothes shopping! You deserve a new wardrobe after all your hard work!
