Do you want to lose 10, 30, 50 or more pounds? Have you recently reached your weight loss goal but want to maintain it? Are you willing to dedicate yourself to a healthy lifestyle? Then this blog is for you!

I have lost 118 pounds and have maintained the weight loss for two years. One of the things I have learned during the weight loss process is that it is much easier to reach and maintain your goal weight if you surround yourself with like-minded individuals to support you in the process (whether they be in person or online).

I also have learned that learning as much as possible about healthy living gives you the knowledge and expertise needed to lose weight the “right” way. So this blog includes regular posts, a book list, website list, TV list, video list and book and website of the month. In addition, there is a recipe of the month and product review section. Visitors to Weight Loss Aficionado can just enjoy the site for informational purposes or can comment on posts, ask questions, share resources, their triumphs and pitfalls during the weight loss process.

Keep The Skin On Your Body Firm and Supple During The Weight Loss Process!

When losing weight you want to make sure that the skin on your body remains supple, firm and glowing. There are 4 steps in the body care process: cleanse, moisturize, exfoliate and mask.

When you cleanse use a nourishing body wash. My five favorites are Dove Deep Moisture Body wash, Dove Go Fresh Revive Body Wash, Olay Ultra Moisture Body wash, Softsoap Body Butter Body Wash, and Bath and Body Works Triple Moisture Cream Body Wash. The Bath and Body Works Moisture Cream Body Wash  comes in a multitude of scents. When buying body washes I always look at the ingredients and make sure that the body wash has an emollient in it such as petroleum, bran oil, soybean oil, shea butter, sunflower seed oil or coconut oil.  The more emollients the merrier I say!

I then use a moisturizer when I get out of the shower. In the morning I use Nivea Skin Firming moisturizer. This moisturizer is proven to firm and visibly tighten the skin’s surface in as little as two weeks. It’s proven within 2 weeks, to provide: visibly firmer, more toned skin, visibly tighter skin’s surface, more resilient skin, softer, smoother skin texture and healthier, younger looking skin (nivea.com).

I then use Palmers Cocoa Butter Formula Firming Butter in the evening before I go to bed. As you probably know, Palmers products have a strong cocoa butter scent, and the scent competes with my perfume so that’s why I save it for the evening. Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula Firming Butter, a unique formula that is specifically designed to restore your body to its natural, original firmness any time, even after pregnancy or weight loss.  The unique combination of Cocoa Butter, Collagen, Elastin and Shea Butter firms and tones while maintaining skin elasticity and texture. In addition, Ginseng and Vitamin E help soften and relieve stressed skin.  Co Enzyme Q10 is an antioxidant that helps smooth and revitalize skin (Palmers.com).

Another great skin firming product that I have used is Fat Girl Slim by Bliss. Fat Girl Slim is a lean, mean skin firming, dimple diminishing cream! It energizes the skin, stimulates skin surface to firm and contour with caffeine and visibly reduces the appearance of excess fluid retention in skin layers. This advanced-technology adipose antagonist (which, in layman's terms, means it visibly diminishes those dastardly dimples) features QuSome-encapsulated caffeine molecules for quick and targeted delivery of the skin-slimming stuff of choice of supermodels, spokespeople and other celebs (bliss.com).

In addition to using firming creams it is important to exfoliate weekly. Exfoliation allows the dry top layer of skin to be sloughed off so that the softer under layer is exposed. Exfoliating also allows your body products, such as firming creams, to work better. My three favorite exfoliators to use on the body are Bliss Super Slough Scrub, Co. Bigelow Smoothing Body Buffer and St. Ives Apricot Scrub.

Bliss Super Slough gently exfoliates with a fresh laundry scent and jojoba beads and pumice. It suds to effectively cleanse the skin. It could be the fresh scent, the frisk of the scrub or the finely-tuned foaming. Whatever the rather of your lather, our constantly bestselling shower and bath 'haute' gets everybody's vote (bliss.com).

Bigelow Smoothing Body Buffer is spiked with exfoliating peppermint sugar crystals, our body buffer provides an invigorating sensation. Wake-you-up formula sloughs away dead skin while smoothing dry, rough spots, creating a one-of-a-kind body-buffing experience. It is infused with cooling peppermint for an invigorating experience (bathandbodyworks.com)

St. Ives Renew and Firm Apricot Scrub is made with gentle alphahydroxy, corn kernel meal, walnut and apricot.  It has 100% natural exfoliants and extracts. APRICOTS are known to contain one of the highest levels of carotenoids (think vitamin A) and super-effective antioxidants. CORN KERNEL MEAL is actually flour ground from dried corn. It’s a soft, but gently powerful all-natural exfoliant that promotes skin cell turnover and regeneration. Cornmeal makes softer-feeling, fresher skin possible. WALNUT is known for its hard shell, but when it’s ground, it becomes an amazingly effective, all-natural exfoliant ingredient in our scrubs (stives.com).

Lastly you should mask your body twice a month after you exfoliate. I use Borghese Fango Brillante Brightening Mud Mask. The mask brightens and gives a more radiant complexion with a blend of Vitamin A and Citrus Unshiu Peel Extract. It evens out skin tone and helps remove dead skin cells to erase the effects of environmental debris. It also rehydrates and nourishes skin with our signature Acqua di Vita® Complex, revealing clearer, younger-looking skin (Borghese.com).

So don’t forget to use an emollient cleanser, exfoliate, moisturize, and mask to keep your skin in tip top condition during the weight loss process!
